Re: New version 2.84 of Simple Mail
Submitted by Kamui on Mon, 02/04/2013 - 08:29Hello, after updating Simple Mail to 2.84, I have some problem with status icon, it looks absolutely transparent, but I fix this issue when reset settings of SM.
Also I have problem with new feature ""Refresh Every" option for account with zero fill in, set manual check account", may be I'm not completely understand what it does, but early all my accounts has 0 refresh time and I always check mail manually by middle click on status icon. Now, when I press status icon with middle button, nothing happens. Middle click works if I set refresh time more than 0, but I want only manual check, is it possible now?
And one more issue, when sending mail, indicator of sending has little bit wrong position, look it here: http://itmages.ru/image/view/876936/1d9c3f84
I sent this message to e-mail, but no sure read you it or not :)

Re: New version 2.84 of Simple Mail
Submitted by AyeJay on Mon, 02/04/2013 - 14:30Something, which may not be a BUG, but nevertheless is also very annoying:
Email addresses don't discriminate between lower case letters and capital letters, which signifies that you can write any email address still correctly in many different ways e.g.
"prename.name@mailer.example" OR
"Prename.Name@mailer.example" OR
"prename.NAME@mailer.example" OR
"prename.name@MAILER.example" AND SO ON.
They are all the same, and the addressee will always receive his mails correctly.
The pertinent RFCs show this clearly.
SimpleMail now DOES discriminate all these addresses in its address book, which leads to having many different entries for one and the same person, which makes life really hard.
It should be very simple to avoid this, I believe...
And another aside:
What does that entry "NEW" in the pop-up menu of the SimpleMail icon in the toolbar mean, why is it needed?
I suppose there should have been additionally some mechanism to hold e.g. the last three or so used addresses, for ease of operation.
Is this thinkable, that would be fine... :-)

"Please make the CORRECTIONS of these BUGS ASAP!" : this is not my full-time job ...
"... but I am unhappy with your solution." : this is not my solution ... but i will change this behavior ("This may be considered another BUG!" - it's not bug) in the next version
"The contents of an AUTOMATIC RECEIPT mail is not shown!" : I look at the issue
"SimpleMail now DOES discriminate all these addresses in its address book" .... ouch! it hurts !! but ok for the next version.

Submitted by AyeJay on Tue, 02/05/2013 - 12:27Another BUG I stumbled upon:
Receiving a silly SPAM mail, which is not shown in SimpleMail - not a single header, but only some uninterpreted contents, I'll show some pictures below, later on.
In the OPERA browser, which I use as alternative emailer-program, it is shown absolutely correctly!
The message text is the following:

What you don't see here is that there are some faulty characters starting AFTER the To: keyword,
and always being inserted just before all the following keywords...
... so that there is a very long line, without any breaks and hindering the proper recognition of all the following keywords!
In the following I show this line, those wrong characters are now replaced by $ signs.
To: <###@###>$Subject: Purchase Levtira & Vigara Now - One day delivery! ~ SALE!$From: "Purchase_Vigara Today" $Date: Tue, 5 Feb 2013 14:24:40 -0300$X-Priority: 3$X-MSMail-Priority: Normal$X-Mailer: IPS PHP Mailer$MIME-Version: 1.0$Content-type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"$Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

You'll have to think this as one long single line, without any CR LF characters, i.e. NO LINE BREAKS.
Apparently therefore SimpleMail can't recognize the needed keywords, they are always expected at the beginning of a NEW LINE!
Here are the pictures:
M/B this problem is related to the one above, where that receipt mail contents is not shown!
Re: New version 2.84 of Simple Mail
Submitted by Kamui on Wed, 02/06/2013 - 03:39Yes, you are right =) my problem was with about:config parameters: network.protocol-handler.expose.mailto and network.protocol-handler.external.mailto
first must be true, second must be false.
And what your opinion about restoring old behaviour of checking mail? I think middle click can be considered as manual check and it must check when update timer is set to 0.
Re: New version 2.84 of Simple Mail
Submitted by AyeJay on Thu, 02/07/2013 - 10:38BUG, or at least - missing feature.
I am not sure if this worked already in former versions, but I couldn't attach multiple files together in one single operation, where these files are shown in one list within the "File Open/Save" pop-up menu from WINDOWS explorer, all separated by BLANKS and each enclosed in APOSTROPHES.
I had to resort to attaching each file separately...
... one after the other. :-(
Tedious, if it were really many files.
BTW, this were "*.wav" files.

About "The contents of an AUTOMATIC RECEIPT mail is not shown!" i don't understand. what you mean by "automatic receipt" ?
For the refresh functionality :
-1 : no automatic refresh and when clicking on Refresh button, refresh only by clicking on account name
0 : no automatic refresh but refresh when clicking on Refresh button and on account name
+10, +20 : automatic refresh, when clicking on refresh button and on account name
it's ok ?

Submitted by AyeJay on Thu, 02/07/2013 - 18:35About "The contents of an AUTOMATIC RECEIPT mail is not shown!" i don't understand. what you mean by "automatic receipt" ?
A receipt email, which comes back from an email, for which the feature "Return receipt" had been checked in SimpleMail, and for which the receiver of said email has allowed to send that receipt back, either automatically or manually.
Essentially that "automatic receipt" - as I call it - depends on the abilities of formatting its contents on the receiving and thus also answering email-program. This is not a problem which comes or could be influenced from SimpleMail's side.
Some emailers are perfect in generating this email, others are not. - SimpleMail has to try to display all the various emails, nevertheless.
I suppose, there are some flaws in the email - that "automatic receipt" - coming back, and therefore it is not displayed properly in SimpleMail.
And this is the problem of SimpleMail.
About the refresh functionality: YES, that's OK!
