BUG: Formatting problem for attachments in EUDORA
AyeJay Tue, 10/23/2012 - 06:52
I recently got a mail from a EUDORA user to whom I sent a mail by SIMPLEMAIL containing an MS-Word document as attachment with following remarks, describing a problem with the attachment link:
"We use Eudora as our email client.
I received the file both as an attachment - the normal behavior from our end - but also apparently as a hypertext link, which I think is the problem.
This appears here as a hypertext link in the sense it is underlined and in blue, and normally that would be the way a link to a website would appear in emails we receive, then we could click on the link and our internet browser would open to the website page.
In any event, it's the attachment which we're interested in, and that seems to have come across properly.
But to describe the problem nevertheless, here is the mail that caused the problems:
When I hover my cursor over the blue, 2nd line of the original email (copied below), this line:
TI06-015_Final OA.doc
I see "The URL is not syntactically valid", in a rectangle with a yellow background in our mail program."
M/B there is a BUG with that formatting SIMPLEMAIL uses for such attachment links, which was in this case:
TI06-015_Final OA.doc
This code snippet shown above was gathered from the mail source, M/B the critical part is
that class-ID "cid:1350592085796@simplemail" which somewhat resembles an email address.
Thanks for your time...
