Are you using an "automatic reflection" tool? How I make a reflection (and I've yet to make a tutorial for this) is

1) Copy something (like the google logo)
2) Paste it on a new layer and flip it vertically
3) Using the selection tool with a 40 pixel feather, select from the middle of the reflection to the bottom of the reflection and delete
4) Adjust the opacity of the reflection layer to something like 75
5) Then using the same selection technique (with a 40 pixel feather) select from just below the top of the reflection to the bottom of the document
6) Using the new selection apply a guassian blur effect

I'll get around to making some screenshots and posting this in a blog, but unfortunately it will be for Paint Shop Pro which is outdated software.
