Re: myspace.com
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 14:27It is interesting to compare the effect of your positioning of the reflection under myspace with this logo
with the diminishing figures on the left one could say that the intention originally was to have a 3d image, but on which plane is myspace meant to be ?
Re: myspace.com
Submitted by jumpordie on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 15:17reflexion depends on range to the object
for example
feel a difference ;)
but there is still such value as height ...

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 15:23perfection !
thanks !
these two look quite correct to the eye
If the myspace words in this logo are on the same plane as say the second figure, then the reflection of the second figure should be similar in some way to the myspace's reflection ?
Re: myspace.com
Submitted by jumpordie on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 15:51all is true.
you have noticed an error because reflexion is made invalidly, and it is evident and it is unusual for sight

Re: myspace.com
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 16:05It would be interesting, would it not, to see what a logo would look like which treats the three figures on the left as if going to a vanishing point, (that is as if they were in 3d), and then see if it is possible to make a reflective plane, that is based on the idea that myspace is on a plane which is say half way between the first and second figure.
My guess is that the reflection of my space would have to be splayed in some way as the vanishing point is to the left ?
maybe it just wont work...
Re: myspace.com
Submitted by jumpordie on Wed, 02/17/2010 - 20:50oh no. vanishing point here there is nothing. еspecially it not a 3d figure.
simply, for gumanov's logo reflexion is not correctly made.

yes maybe I am using the term 3d incorrectly.
but surely this part of the logo does have a vanishing point even if the figures are not three dimensional
it is my impression that if one treats the image as simply flat then the reflection especially of the figures on the left remains unconvincing.
gumanov's it seems is like a hybrid, and I agree is not fully convincing either.
what would happen I wonder if you took the right picture of your excellent example here (which is entirely convincing) and without removing anything, added two black (increasingly smaller) squares behind the present one, each one with its own reflection, and and lined up like the figures in the logo with a vanishing point, (and you leave the myspace letters just where they are), my impression is that you would wculd begin to create a semblance of a credible perspective ?

Submitted by jumpordie on Thu, 02/18/2010 - 01:41my previous example is true ONLY for plane maps. for the present 3d figures it not absolutely approaches. for example

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Thu, 02/18/2010 - 13:26Thanks again for the great drawings. :-)
I understand
maybe like here
but as the figures in the myspace logo have no 3d depth and the words myspace the same, and both are parallel to the viewing plane, would these problems apply simply because there is a vanishing point ?
Re: myspace.com
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Fri, 02/19/2010 - 12:43If you look at this image, that is at the two letters a and b, maybe you will see what I mean.
http://vig-fp.prenhall.com/bigcovers/0131914669.jpg
the front letter is larger than the one behind like the figures in the logo.
they have each a reflection directly in front of each letter
the plane of reflection is common to both letters
Forget that they are 3d images and imagine them simply as 2d planes, parallel to the view plane like in the logo.
forget too everything on the left.
you see how the reflections are ?
they are individual and separate.
not all bunched up together at the front like yours (and gumanov's)
Re: myspace.com
Submitted by jumpordie on Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:33these are different things.
if correctly to do reflexion for gumanov's logo should look here so ^_^

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:51why google and not myspace ?
I apologise but I am not absolutely sure that I understand what point you are making with this google logo
please explain
many thanks
