Thanks for this.

Have always used the eyedropper in the Firefox Extension Colorzilla for this purpose

Will load GetColor into Launchy and give it a try.

Strange.
I get a different reading for that Blue in the picture than the one shown
I wonder why.

What do you get ?

That is because of the GIF compression on the image. (You can actually see lighter and darker lines if you look at the image closely)

Excellent test page.
Thanks

You know I am sure GC is accurate.

I was not doubting the program at all but was simply curious about the picture (from GetColor)which I find misleading.

If Picamamtic had not stopped working for some reason, I would have posted a picture earlier to explain.

This is what I was referring to:
The text details for the colour in your (GetColor) picture would seem to be incorrect.
If that colour is checked with GetColor or with ColorZilla it comes out as different.

Yes, I know what you were reffering to. Like I said, that is because of GiF compression of the image.
Since GIF is limited to a 256 color palette it uses lighter and darker shades of the color to create the illusion of the color in question.

If you switch your windows desktop to 256 colors you will see what I am talking about.
Here is part of the image magnified 10 timed and saved as PNG 32.
Do you see it now?
