FastDial changes my inserted URL boxes by itself
Anonymous (not verified) —Tue, 12/02/2008 - 05:15
Using 2.11 with FF 3.0.4 under XP Pro SP3. I also have Foxmarks with 3 computers syncing (Work/Home/Laptop). Only other add-ons are GooglePreview and ReloadEvery (latter also seems to have reliability issues).
The problem is that FastDial will not maintain the items I put into the main FastDial page. I run 4 X 3 = 12 items but they change by themselves with seemingly no regard whatsoever for what I tell them to be!. The other PCs using Foxmarks use the same 12 boxes so it's not as though I am changing them elsewhere and then Foxmarks is doing something I don't want it to do. I looked thru the Forum but cannot see anyone else reporting this problem....
Tks for any assistance

Tnanks for your very clear post
Presumably you saw this thread here
I am not a user of Foxmarks.
Have you managed to establish if this changing of cell positions is caused by Foxmarks synchronisation or not ?
It would seem reasonable to assume that when Foxmarks synchronises it may save the bookmark information cells in places.sqlite in such a way that Fast Dial misinterprets their cell position.
However not all users of Foxmarks have reported this problem,

On the other hand this maybe simply a Fast Dial bug.
This would be interesting to discover
Is there any chance you could backup you present Bookmarks Folder places.sqlite to a safe place, the developer of Fast Dial could check it for problems.
Are you seeing any Errors in the Error Console ?

I wonder if this post is relevent in any way to this question.

It may interest you that in v2.14 that it is possible to alter the name of the Root Folder in Bookmarks.
This essentially would allow you to disable Foxmarks synchronisation temporarily on one machine should you so wish.
Download Version 2.14 here
