The file fastdial.sqlite.bak is created when there is a successful upgrade from Fast Dial 1.x to Fast Dial 2.0

If you started your Fast Dial pages only in Fast Dial 2.x then it is not possible to use any information from FD 2.x to create your FD 1.x as the File fastdial.sqlite.bak will not be present in the Profile as this is only created on the upgrade from Fast Dial 1.x.

If there has been an unsucessful upgrade from FD 1.x to FD 2.x then sometimes the original fastdial.sqlite file is still present and unchanged.

In that case simply install FD 1.x

There is no way of using the information from a Fast Dial 2.0 installion and using in Fast Dial 1.x

In Fast Dial 2.0 the information is stored in Bookmarks (places.sqlite) and in Fast Dial 1.x in fastdial.sqlite.

I apologise if all this was not clear in the mentioned document.
I have added a few more lines to clarify this.

I used to use FD 1.90

if you upgraded your FD 1.x setup to your present fd 2.x setup then your fastdial.sqlite.bak file should be there.

go to the fastdial folder in the firefox profile and have a look there.

that's where fastdial.sqlite,bak should be.
Along with all the other thumbnails.

Yes FD 2.14 seems to work quite well.
