2.8 rearranging tiles

Everytime I refresh the page, the panels rearrange. During the rearranging, some panels show up twice whereas others disappear from the list. I love this addon, best addon ever but not usable with this issue. Posts on the mozilla add-ons page indicate I'm not the only one with the issue. I hope you come up with a fix soon.

when telega gets online im sure he will figure it out
but for now heres a question from the FAQ:
Something isn't working, what should I do?
Please collect information about browser error messages:
* Enter "about:config" in the browser's address bar. A page with a "Filter" input field and a list of preferences appears.
Enter "javascript.options.showInConsole" into the "Filter" field, single line will be displayed.
If column "Value" contains "false" then right-click the line and choose "Toggle" from the context menu, so that value becomes "true".
* Open FF Tools > Error console menu. An error console window appears. Click "Clear" button there.
* Now do what you were doing to reproduce the error.
* Go back to Error console window and see if there're new messages.

There is quite a long post on this site where some users report experiencing this problem
This has usually been experienced immediately after upgrading from Version 1.x.
Was that also the case for you ?

Re: 2.8 rearranging tiles
Submitted by dtjohnst on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 21:10I've been running Fast Dial for a long time. I had FF2 with the latest version for that (don't remember what it was), had no problems when I upgraded to FF3 and 2.6. Problems only began with my recent upgrade from FD 2.6 to FD 2.8. I've tried going back to 2.6 but it didn't work at all, I just got a blank page. Going back to FD 2.3 was ok, but the rearranging continued. I have also disabled all my other addons to ensure it's not something else causing the problem.

(drag into firefox after download)
and if new tabs are blank, uninstall FD, restart firefox, reinstall FD, restart firefox
let me know what happens

I uninstalled FD, restarted FF, installed v2.6, restarted firefox, tab still blank. Uninstalled 2.6, restarted FF, installed 2,9, restarted FF, rearranging persists.
I've done some testing on the rearranging as well. If I rearrange the tabs, the next time I open a blank tab and FD loads the tiles are random. But if I open a 2nd blank tab, FD loads with the same arrangement that was originally there before I tried to rearrange them. This behavior exists in both 2.8 and 2.9 with all other addons still disabled. Which would be fine if that original arrangement was the one I had in 2.6, but it's all over the place. :S
I have a backup profile via FEBE, my next step is to try reinstalling FF from scratch and restoring that profile.

Very helpful and detailed report
Especially about the tabs.
This may prove very useful.
Thanks
A little surprised however that you chose to re-install Version 2.6
My impression is that it is best avoided as it is seriously flawed.
Maybe it would also be a good idea to back up your present bookmarks for reference purposes.
Re: 2.8 rearranging tiles
Submitted by dtjohnst on Sat, 09/13/2008 - 00:042.6 and 2.3 have both been tested. Once it's pooched, it's pooched no matter what version you run. However, I've found the problem: corrupt user profile.
I tried installing just FD in a new profile, worked fine. I used FEBE to make a backup of my extensions, created a new profile, installed FEBE, the used that to restore the old addons, still works fine. Last step for troubleshooting, I created a complete profile backup with FEBE and tried restoring that, problem persisted.
Ergo, corrupt user profile it seems. Luckily, with FEBE anyone else with this problem can easily get all their addons back up and running with minimal issues. Reconfiguring FF and a few addons as well as having to relog into webpages is a small price to pay to get a working copy of FD. I seriously can't operate without it.
Bookmarks are backed up via foxmarks. I disabled it when the problems started, but it's working fine as well now that I've restored the addons in a fresh profile. That's another step I'd recommend people take to minimize the impact of starting with a fresh profile.

Good news
Wonder what caused your Profile to get corrupted
So you restored all your Bookmarks to the new Profile using Foxmarks and Bookmars are OK now ?
