I remember when I updated Fast Dial, I lost all my bookmarks. Is that still a problem with recent updates? Is there a way to backup my bookmarks before I update to the latest version of Fast Dial? Thanks.

I have not seen this problem of late.
It was never too clear why it was happening.

Firefox backs up automatically.

I would always recommend the use of FEBE to backup the firefox profile as well
