When "search for text when i start typing" is enabled in firefox preferences, fast dial page shortcut keys does not work. Is there any way to fix this?

And i also have a problem with search engine bar. I can't change search engine to google (or anything else). It just stay with fast dial logo, and it does not work.

I m using ubuntu 9.04, firefox 3.0.11 and fast dial version 2.23b1. Thx.
