OK someone.. tell me this is not true..... (background)

I have encountered a strange bug (FD 2.23b1)
Has to be a reason for this.
Would welcome any other input/experiences.
In firefox 3.6 when I go to change the background, when I browse and try to load a background, in Appearance/Page/Image, the address of the new background does not load.
Result:
The background cannot be changed...
I went back to FF 3.5.8, no problems.
Background loads fine
So what is happening ?
Any input most welcome.
This is FD 3.23b1
FF 3.6
Maybe it is just an extension conflict or an about:config setting...
Maybe some other little thing
Maybe even finger trouble...
Is anyone else getting this ????
Need to get to the bottom of this...
(45 themes loaded)

Tried in a new profile
Fast Dial only loaded
FF 3.6
Works fine.... :-)
Wonder what's happening....
OK.OK
Error...
I can load a background in the new Profile if I load in default.
(no background present)
AND
I can load a background in current Profile if I load in default.
(no background present)
In fact one can load one background after another in default
But once a background is saved, no further backgrounds can be loaded.
In the new profile cannot load background in the telega themes.
(background previously loaded)
This suggests that the code in FD needs to be modified to work with FF 3.6 in this respect... ?
telega any thoughts ?
edit
It would seem interestingly that if one loads a theme in import in themes the background does load.
Not what I had expected...
strange

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Sun, 03/07/2010 - 21:33There is of course a temporary fix.
Set up a template of all your settings but without a background.
keep it as a template in themes.
This template will need to be created out of default, so will be default* before being renamed.
Need a new background.
Load it into the template
Rename template* (star) with name of new background
done
so always load new backgrounds into template.
This is a temporary fix.
(I see that it is not possible either to remove a background in the image/background setting by deleting)

Thanks yes I did check that earlier on.
But it was clear at some point that this problem was Firefox Version related rather than Logo specific...

Have at last had details of another user experienceing/reproducing this problem
seen here
But this other user had the problem with 3.5
(EDIT: this was his error- it was in fact 3.6)

It should have stated when I upgraded to 3.6 that I started having the problem, just like you. :)
Blargh, what is this?
Is this a problem for all users with FF3.6 or just some?

That is what I am trying to find out.
So far you are the only other person (besides me) to reproduce, but maybe most users do not change their background that often
(I change all the time)
To me it seems to be very clearly a bug.
Now I know that your problems was with 3.6 and NOT 3.5 that helps
a lot in confirming that this is a 3.6 problem.
when I went back to 3.5 the problem went.
Do you find the same ?
Details of this bug and workaround posted for AMO users

many thanks
