Strange happenings with bookmarks.

Running XP/SP3 on desktop and Vista on laptop - and this is happening on both machines with Fast Dial 2.22b installed.
Everything had been working perfectly and so far as Fast Dial is concerned still is but recently I have discovered that about 1/3 of my Bookmarks (when accessed from the Firefox Bookmarks drop down menu will not respond to the context menu commands to open in a"new tab" or "delete"
They do respond perfectly to these commands when accessed via the Firefox/Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks menu.
As the two machines use the same Foxmarks extension I suspect that this is how the problem is occurring on both machines and has been transferred from one machine to the other.
So what has this got to do with Fast Dial?
Strangely if I revert back to Fast Dial 2.11 the problem is fixed and everything on the bookmarks menu opens as it opens as it should responding to all context menu commands.
Reinstalling 2.22b - the problem returns.
Is it possible that the 2.22b installation has become corrupted in some way (possibly by a rogue bookmark if there is such a thing) and is there any way to ensure the complete removal of 2.22b (other than by the normal Firefox/Tools/Add-ons/uninstall process) so that a completely clean reinstall can be tried?

This seems to be the same problem which you had here
On that occasion the problem went away of it's own accord, maybe after a re-install ?

Many thanks

Please check browser Error Console if there're errors(see info here: http://userlogos.org/node/2206).

Reinstall of 2.22b has not made any difference even with a reboot between uninstall and reinstall.
Have followed instruction re the error console and having cleared the existing entries tried to access one of the problem bookmarks which still will not open in a new tab .
Back to the error console and the following entry appears twice:
Error: placesContext is not defined
Source File: chrome://fastdial/content/overlay.xul
Line: 107
Error: placesContext is not defined
Source File: chrome://fastdial/content/overlay.xul
Line: 107
Hope this is of some help.

Thanks. I can confirm the same error message gets displayed on my system when context menu gets displayed, however on my system it doesn't affect menu functioning.
If you like, you can try to modify extension's overlay.xul file, line 106 and remove the piece of code that generates the error to see whether if fixes the problem:
FdDom.get("placesContext")
.addEventListener("popupshowing", function(e) {
if (e.target != placesContext) return;
FdDom.get("fd-places").hidden =
!document.popupNode.getAttribute("container");
}, false);

Submitted by telega on Fri, 02/13/2009 - 15:07Find Firefox profile folder (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox for instructions). Then go to "extensions/fastdial@telega.phpnet.us/chrome/content" subfolder. There is an overlay.xul file, which has to be modified: go to line 106 and remove piece of code from my previous message. Then restart Firefox.
