FIREFOX 3 and the SSL uses an invalid security certificate - self signed error :-)

Hi everyone....GREAT to be here....!!!
QUESTION about what's below:
IS it SimpleMail OR Firefox that needs to accept the certificates? or BOTH? I mean IF I get firefox to be ok with selfsigned certs WILL simplemail be fine then?
OK... I am using latest FireFox 3 and with my hosted space pop3 accounts (I have ssl on there and cpanel though they just turned it on for me I haven't got any special certificates thing going)
I cannot get email as many of you may know as i get the message in SIMPLEMAIL:
995 uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
The certificate is only valid for ......
I tried one fix I read about for FIREFOX (not sure IF it would help with SimpleMail
It's:
create a USER.JS file toput in the mozilla profile folder
add the following lines to it...
user_pref("browser.ssl_override_behavior", 2);
user_pref("browser.xul.error_pages.expert_bad_cert", true);
It appears to do nothing for me...
HELP on this anyone?
I can't use simplemail at all....
I've REALLY tried! :-)
WHAT is the hack!!!!!!!! please!!!!!!1
whatever happens thanks for reading!!!
