Re: move actual FD state to second computer
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Fri, 01/02/2009 - 18:11I use FD on my notebook and sometimes I want to have the same FD state on my home computer.
How to do it?
Maybe you could try using the extension Foxmarks
This will synchronise the bookmarks, on the two computers.
Would you like to do that ?
Maybe worth researching on this site and elsewhere before you use.
I do not use myself
---
The other option is to copy the complete Firefox Profile.
FEBE works well for that
---
Which would you prefer to do ?
---
Or do you have something else in mind ?
---
Many thanks

But I thought about simple FD function, like export/import.
Just:-)

Re: move actual FD state to second computer
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 03:02But one moment please. I looked in the Firefox profile and I see FastDial folders:
...\firefox\profile\[profile name]\fastdial\
and
...\firefox\profile\[profile name]\extensions\fastdial@telega.phpnet.us\
I'll try to experiment tommorow, but what do you think about simple copy?
Not the all PROFILE but only this two folders?

This is a complex question
It depends also which Version you are running
In 2.15, you can go to Organise Bookmarks
Then Bookmarks Menu
Right click on the Fast Dial Folder in Bookmarks Menu and select Fast Dial export/import

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 03:11I use Windows Vista Prof, Firefox 3.0.5 and FastDial, as I see, 2.11!
And I can't upgrade to 2.15.

Good question.
In Fast Dial Ver 1.x one could just copy the Fast Dial Folder in the Profile.
All the images and settings were stored there.
But in Fast Dial 2.x, Fast Dial Settings Information is stored in the Fast Dial bookmarks, so in places.sqlite.
This possibility of saving the Fast Dial Folder on it's own was introduced in Fast Dial v2.14.
It was at that point that it was no longer necessary to copy the whole of Firefox bookmarks to move the Fast Dial Folder.
So this was a great improvement.

FEBE is really easy and fast and simple !!
Set to Full Profile Backup
Backup profile
Restore profile
Done :-)
Highly recommended.
