Re: Any Way to Simply Omit Logos and Screenshots?
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 11/11/2008 - 13:22I'd like my FastDial master page to simply display titles : just fonts in a small skinny title background box, no images, no image boxes either.
A page of titles, all text.
----
There is a fully transparent logo somewhere if I can lay my hands on it
Here is the logo here
please load into your cells just like a logo
it is pure nothingness.
that should allow you to do what you are after.

But that's more effort.

though loading a blank logo is only a workaround hack compromise, which still retains big blank useless boxes in their places. I wish we could simply click an option to not display logos. Seems like such a simple and useful thing to have, yes? Then we could opt to simply have a page made of text links, fitting oh so many more onto the page, and with an even format free of lurid and random visual distractions. Why not? It's significant enough to keep me from being able to use FastDial at all, which is a shame.

why ?
de-select show empty cells in preferences.
You should see nothing at all but your title text
Make the title text transparent and you should see nothing at all on the page anywhere.
Where is the problem
Then we could opt to simply have a page made of text links
But you can.
Can you post a pic ?
Re: Any Way to Simply Omit Logos and Screenshots?
Submitted by upChuck on Wed, 11/12/2008 - 13:36De-selecting 'show empty cells' still leaves the same big useless spaces, just without dispalying their border outlines.
I'm talking about completely removing the logo space entirely, leaving only text titles. The page compresses down so it only shows title text along with their small title-text boxes, all stacked up with no logo squares (and no logo square's spaces - neither empty nor filled). We'd get an option to eliminate logos entirely, along with all the space they take up.
Some of us are fine with verbal links. We don't require a buzzing page full of logos of all shapes and sizes competing with each other in a cacophany of colors. For some of us a uniformly-fonted list of textual titles is a lot easier to scan and organize mentally -- and again, this way we could fit thousands of bookmarks on a page instead of a mere hundred or so. All we need is a simple option not simply whether to show or not show empty cells while keeping their spaces intact, but to make all logo cells cells go away altogether, and collapse all the space they eat up.
How does one upload an image here? I could make a mockup, although I think it's quite straightforward a concept, and easy to understand, really.

Submitted by macleod.mac on Wed, 11/12/2008 - 13:40I know what you mean.
I think the only way to counter that would be to have images with just plain text in them.
I can make some for you happily if you simply tell me the text you want in each one. The only problem is this makes it more impractical to change any links.

Re: Any Way to Simply Omit Logos and Screenshots?
Submitted by upChuck on Wed, 11/12/2008 - 13:43Even more awesome -- may I fantasize? -- is individualized control on a per-cell basis: control of logo display/hide/collapse, background colors and fonts for each cell. That would be phenomenal. Just wishing here...

Mmm
What your saying sounds more like Organise Bookmarks that Fast Dial.
Some people rather like having images around and not lists
I had misunderstood you, I thought you wanted to make use of Fast Dial.
Re: Any Way to Simply Omit Logos and Screenshots?
Submitted by upChuck on Wed, 11/12/2008 - 13:44Posting text-images still preserves the same useless blocks of space, which is just as pointless.
