"Open in current tab" doesn't work
vogelscheuche Sun, 09/28/2008 - 04:18
Hi there
don't know if it's a common problem, but I asked a friend of mine and he had the same problem:
If you're trying to open in a current tab, it doesn't work for me. Instead, Fastdial opens up the adress or search term I entered in the adress bar in a new tab. Whether i choose open in "current tab", "new tab", "background tab" or "new window", it doesn't matter - it always opens up a new tab.
Don't know if this is a bug or if it works for others, but is there a way to get it to work like it should?
Thanks for any help

EDIT:
Maybe it's my OS. I'm currently on a Ubuntu amd64 machine. But I don't think so, because my friends running Windows XP (32bit).

Submitted by vogelscheuche on Tue, 09/30/2008 - 06:31Yes, I have - to no avail.
But I think I got it. It's an incompatibility error you get when you have the "Tree Style Tab" plugin.
Try installing it and tell me what effect it has on your browser:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5890
Dang! I'd really like to use both of em at the same time. :/
Hopefully this can be fixed...
EDIT:
I tried FastDial now as well. There seems to be the same incompatibility with the "Tree Style Tab" plugin. :(
Maybe I should ask its developers instead?
Thanks for any help :)

Submitted by Paolo Monza (not verified) on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 05:27I've the same problem.
In addition, after creating some links, the menu item "Add" ceases to work. I'm forced to create a bookmark with the browser menu item, then to put it in the relevant folder through "Organize bookmarks"
I'm also forced to create manually the icon "Fast dial" in each folder, because after some use Fast Dial stops making them automatically
Fast dial should be a very useful tool and could be very successful, but its bugs make it damned irritating.

I had the same problem, here is what I did.
In Firefox, go to Tools > Add ons > Fast Dial > Preferences> Where it says 'Open In' if gives you 3 choices:
I tried both new tab and background tab and it would still open a tab from FastDial in a new tab. Until I checked blank. When you select blank that will do what you want it to do. Try it out! Hope this helps.
