Re: newbee Q: is there an Export/Import function?
Submitted by telega on Mon, 08/18/2008 - 12:21For Fast Dial 1.90 copy contents of the [firefox_profile]/fastdial/ folder (google for "firefox profile folder").
For Fast Dial 2.1 use Bookmark Manager export/import function (tested, works) or bookmarks synchronizing addons (not tested).

oh! that sounds promising! thank you telega.
i'm using FF3 w FD2.1, so ... what next? are we talking about "Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks..." off the main FF menu? sorry, but i don't see anything there related to FD. doubtless i'm missing something obvious here but ... what is it please?

Yep, Organize Bookmarks. Fast Dial 2.x stores all its data in Firefox bookmarks ("Fast Dial" subfolder) thus import/export of bookmarks will also include FD data.
In Organize Bookmarks window use "Import and Backup > Backup" toolbar button (not sure about the exact title because I have russian Firefox) - the rightmost one.

really!?! not on my system. there is no "Fast Dial" subfolder in my bookmarks at all. since FF3 no longer stores the bookmarks in a html file i've Exported my bookmarks and searched that: nothing "fast dial" nor "fastdial" in it, so i'm pretty sure it ain't there.
from what I can tell my FD just has the "fastdial" subfolder in the profile folder, with the usual fastdial.sqlite, pngs, etc. i wonder if i didn't mess something up ... guess i'll try uninstalling FD and starting again from scratch. ugh!

backing up that folder will save your sites...
if u want your theme saved, there is export function under page, appearance tab

yup, it's there now, after an uninstall then delete fastdial subfolder in the profile then reinstall.
but it wasn't there before ... like i said, guess i hooped something on the original install.
everything seems good now though. will try the export/import thing next.

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Sat, 05/16/2009 - 12:47Have not encountered this question before.
Possibly many Fast Dial users prefer to build up their Folders, one cell at a time, from scratch, maybe using the context menu/Add to Fast Dial as they do so.
Anyhow please see:
