Can't send e-mails

What can the reason be? I get no error messages. Sent e-mails are to find in the "Sent" folder, but they never arrive at mail recipient.

Simple Mail don't handle sending mail with a SMTP server with authentification (like Hotmail) may be the reason why ?
I'm working on a new version which will allow STARTTLS ...
