Sorting Thumbs - how ?

Hi - I am using FD w/o Folders ...
Thee appearance is; i have 4 thumbs / 3 rows as startpage. If I add a links, the new thumb is positioned at the "next" site, which I can reach via scrolling.
So I have now 3 sites. Staying in a site I can sort my thumbs.
But - how can I sort rthumbs vom from site to another? I cant find anything about moving thumbs all over the sites.
Once a friend told me: try this: make all sites to ine (4thumbs 12 ows) an then sort.
Good tip, but it wont work; then I can not set other places for any thumb.
So - how can I sort all thumbs without deleting them, without to do a new load of all the websites and save them one after another?
(Sorry for strange english; missing practice for me as German ;) )

In an ideal world you can try drag and drop.
Ideally if you move one logo to the place of another it will change places.
So you can move them around
I personally have had problems with drag and drop not working for some time
Please let me know if this addresses your problem

Drag n Drop kann ich nur innerhalb einer angezeigten "Seite" benutzen. Habe ich mehrere Seiten, die ich per Scrolling erreichen kann, komme ich über die Grenzen der Seite nicht hinaus.
Seltsamerweise - pumpe ich alles auf, daß sich alle Thumbs in einer Seite (Anzeigebereich auf dem Schirm) = 4*12, dann geht das auch nicht; dann kann ich garnichts verschieben ...

My German is not so good.
You cannot move between pages with drag and drop
What you can do is increase the number of vertical cells say 3x40
And then you will possibly lose pages.
Then you can drag and drop..
Moving cells to another group is a different matter...

Submitted by LouZipher on Mon, 05/23/2011 - 04:19Inreaasing - I tried this, but then happend this: I could move the thumbs, but not place them at another place. They automatically were places at the last possible position .... maybe all above 10 rows is too much for sorting thumbs in this way.

In practice however drag and drop seems to be practical over short distances only and not from for example line 20 to line 2
try in little jumps of one or two lines at a time
on my machine drag and drop does not work so well anymore so I try to avoid using.
Maybe you have the same problem
I run about 40 lines of cells vertically

Submitted by LouZipher on Wed, 05/25/2011 - 05:46This is the strange thing; If I try 12 rows, I cannont move anything; not even from one place to the next (example) not from place 2 to 3; IF it changes the place, then it will go to the last available place, (example) row 12, place 3.

Then I erased all bookmarks and inserted them new; but: thumbs located on later "sites" took place there again and NOT at empty places earlier. Changing the sort-parameter from None to any other will sort them new, but NOT like I want them to sort.
It seems that anywhere this positions are stored, but where ?
DAMN - I only want to sort the thumbs HOW I WANT - isn't that possible ?
Is it impossible to make the thumbs sortable ?
Remember: my screen is: 4 thumbs in 3 rows, then next screen using mouse to scroll to the next site, again 4 x 3, so I have 3 sites at the moment ....

I would have expected that if you removed all links from all cells, and started again that your cells would then appear in the order you saved them in.
That is 1 2 3 4
There are columns and rows.
Do you have 3 or 4 columns ?
Sort should definitely be none
Please make sure to make Fast Dial home.
That is right click on the Fast Dial Folder in Bookmarks (organise bookmarks,bookmarks menu)and go to the Fast Dial Flder make home in the context menu.
If Fast Dial is not home then you will drive yourself mad because Bookmarks will override the postions of the cells on the page tht you enter.
I find myself that if Fixed is deselected in Preferences/General sometimes drag and drop works better.
But in General find that Drag and Drop is flawed
I have 3 columns by 40

These are all the parameter I have setted. No difference.
I found out, that it will work, when I increase the number of rows AND increase number of columns - it is not so fine to work with, but it operates; but it is not a real good solution.

Rows is the important value
If you increase columns this will reduce necessary rows
WHat are the details
How many rows do you have set as maximimum ?
With more rows you should have only one "page".
Pages
