When you say bookmark you mean save to a Fast Dial page.
If you had one click only it would I suppose save to the root folder.
The advantage of the context menu add to fast dial, is that you can chose the folder to save to.

If one uses folders a lot one click - save to root - would surely be of limited value ?

2) ability to manipulate multiple items. I don't know how feasible this would be, but it would be much easier to organize if you could do batch operations (like deleting or moving to a folder).

I understand what you mean.
Do you do a lot of organising in this way
Maybe good to make the folder first, and save to folder with context menu, rather than re-organise afterwards.
Ctrl - Drag and drop to folder however is quite fast, if you have the folder near to the cells you want to move.
You can then move the folder on its own relatively easily after it has taken on the necessary cells
