but it does have this thing where you create a "main" account, and can create "alias accounts" of which all mail will go to the main account :)
"Does it support sending mail from other accounts via SMTP?" i dont use this, so i dont know if it has that ability, how would i check?
it also has a mailcollector function, which is awesome..
the way they describe it: "Mail Collector gives you the freedom to manage all of your e-mail accounts in one"

so gmx is like an all-in-one email for me now.
i use it to collect all my yahoo, hotmail, and gmail messages. and i can email from any of those, directly from gmx :D

SMTP- The industry standard for sending mail from email accounts.

you should be able to check all of them through gmx.
just set-up the mail-collector (if your mail service isnt in the list, it allows custom pop3 settings as well, which is probably what you were asking about - its listed as "other provider" at the bottom of the list)
each mail-collector account gets it own directory, so if you imap into your gmx account you can check all your email accounts there as well =]

"When signing up for some website, say thatwebsite.com, you can add thatwebsite to your Gmail user ID (eg. GeorgeBush+thatwebsite@gmail.com). This way you can block your subscription whenever you want and even identify those websites that distribute your email address to spammers. "
