Uploading logos

http://www.userlogos.org/node/18089
I wonder what is happening her

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 03:38Spammer ?
http://www.userlogos.org/user/48010/spambot
George we stopped users publishing stuff in their profile, as many used it for promotion
Have you kept the settings the same
This user and account not listed with Spambot but I declared as spam
Do you agree ?
Re: Site updates complete
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 04:18It is interesting to note the following:
You have a cron scan timed for Spambot with threshold of 200 IPs
You also have SPambot running for registration
As I mentioned to you before I was unable to find any reference of the site scan among the registration details
I looked again and found nothing
Now it may be that Spambot found no users, but it also maybe for some reason that DBlogs cannot record both processes simultaneously.

Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 04:22Second flower shop spammer

Please see previous comment
Also reported
These are not reegistered with Spambot as they are not comments
Please respond about his sort of Spam in Prolfiles
It was hugely common until DK blocked this possibility

Submitted by gumanov on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 12:22Sorry haven't gotten the chance to get back to you.
I'll be online later tonight
Re: Site updates complete
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 13:23OK
The site is getting "healthier" or that is my impression.
That is the users are more visible now there are less spambots all the time as online users
This is much better
I feel it, I hope the users do
I think this personal information spam must be knocked on the head. Possibly as this is not comment spam SFS do not have records of these users, but this guy called twice today and if one does not catch when they are posting, they remain invisible, that is why DK and I blocked this option
Maybe you have some other solution
Re: Site updates complete
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Tue, 10/07/2014 - 13:34Spambot
I am interested to know something
When Spambot scans users it seems that it does not report users to it's own site and that this is only done manually.
Or maybe all spam on the site has already been marked as spam, and your settings do not include already blocked cooments/posts in the scan
Maybe it is worth including in scan
I am not sure how this works
It would be good to see some spam of ours on My Spammers
Do you understand me

Yeah it can only be done manually.
Spambot protects by scanning against the database, while reporting is optional.
Reporting requires an API key, which must be requested, and does not automatically come with spambot.
They never made it automatic I guess.

I think it's enabled for registered users to edit their "personal information" page.

I can remove this feature all together..?

It is a shame but maybe yes
There is not an obvious way to stop this abuse
It was very common and DK and I found this was the only solution
Re: Site updates complete
Submitted by chiaroscuro on Wed, 10/08/2014 - 04:04Yeah it can only be done manually.
Ah OK
It would be good to have one spammer on "My Spammers"
Re: Site updates complete
Submitted by gumanov on Wed, 10/08/2014 - 04:12I have just enabled honeypot protection on the profile forms here:
http://www.userlogos.org/admin/settings/honeypot
So we can let it stay enabled for now and see how it works.
If we continue to get spam in profile page forms, I will remove the feature.

Interesting
I wonder how it recognises spammers
Because these are not Spambots I think

If they are human spammers then there is no way to really block, but only to moderate after they spam.
Unless we just disable that feature. Guess we will see

Trouble is you don't see as this information is not visible
