Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by macleod.mac on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 11:09The main greivances are that there were inserted cells - userlogos / gmail / agoodcause and that userlogos was changed to default search plugin.
To be honest, I think that telega needs to remove these aspects, as well as autohide, for this release at least as autohide is causing the majority of problems with other addons.
I will keep using it, however, I hope that it will be sorted in order for all the people who commented to keep using it.
Telega. Don't get disheartened by this - simply try and fix it - trust me Firefox would be much worse without this addon in any form. As for the people who are insulting you, just ignore them as I don't see them developing their own awesome addons.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 16:07I agree with you, however the candid trust put in this piece of software may be forever gone and that's a pity... I have used this addon for months (year?) at home and lately installed it at work, be sure that I will at least remove it from there...
That said this give me the opportunity to thank Telega for all the previous versions. ;)

Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 16:01Doesn't matter if it's really spyware or not, the way people feel about it at the moment is that it isn't worth using. Telega needs to remove the links and search for Userlogos, as well as the link to charity. People prefer to make up there own minds, and littering an addon with someone else's opinion isn't going to make anyone happy.
I have reverted to the previous version until the userlogo's and charity stuff is removed from the addon, but many other will just remove it all together and switch to speed-dial after this release, and most likely will not come back.
I hope Telega has the guts to man up and admit he made a mistake and remove the links, otherwise I don't see this addon lasting much longer, or being as popular as it is anymore.

Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 16:12He released 2.16 a bit ago, seems to have fixed alot of the problems, and he removed all the forced links from what I can see. Still, I think he has ruined the trust of alot of his users. He should have released 2.15 as experimental, and let people give him feed back on that for a while.
THANK YOU TELEGA FOR LISTENING TO YOUR USERS
Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 20:43doesn't matter if he fixes it and removes the links or not, the fact that he did it to start with on a plugin in a program that does auto updates, and gave us no indication that it will change the settings on the browser is inexcusable.
Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by euphonicnight on Tue, 01/06/2009 - 20:47Honestly, my first thoughts were mixed. What's sad is that currently my Fast Dial page looks exactly the way it did before the update, it just took me a lot of time and grief to remake it. The search bar doesn't offer anything beyond the one built in to the browser and honestly the new preferences menus are difficult to understand. Though to be entirely honest this site being all on the fritz has caused me more trouble than the updated add-on.
Note: I love all the horrible spelling and grammatical errors in the comments. Honestly, I think that if you can't understand the difference between "adaware" and "adware" you shouldn't be judging software.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 00:15I like the new version.
May be telega can can put 2.11 on mozilla and make current 2.16 as 2.16b .
2.11 has more functions in some aspects. while 2.16 is more focused on cosmetics in cost of functionality.

These new Versions 2.15/2.16 are astounding if you play with them a bit.
But there is a lot that is new
But it is very customisable with most every option selelectable.
And Themes is extraordinary.
All we needs is time and patience and a working Userlogos.
Mmm seems Userlogos is better now..
Good
Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by asmodeus on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 10:37Thanks Mozilla for keeping old versions. I'm using 2.11 and I'm not gonna update anytime soon. Update removed all my locally stored logos and it doesn't even work - shows me blank page. And changing default search engine was a very bad idea. As well as a button (I know he removed it).
So, Telega, you got what you deserved. Don't fix what's not broken - golden rule.
Re: 2.15 on AMO
Submitted by euphonicnight on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 17:45Add: I'm glad Userlogos is up again, too. That period where I was repairing my Fast Dial after the update was difficult with the site going up and down like the Stock Market (zing!). Has anyone else thought that we could use this site for more than just Fast Dial? I mean, we've created 4 by 3 logos for a good portion of the Internet, surely there's tons of other uses, right?
