There is an issue when downloading themes. We are still looking into this.
USERLOGOS IS EXPERIENCING HIGH SPIKES OF TRAFFIC. YOU MAY SEE ERRORS.
SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!
FD 2.15
Please do not post negative reviews for FD. If you didnt like the update, please downgrade until everything is sorted. Many issues were the result of UserLogos going down at the time of release.
Logos, for example, may not have loaded in FD if they were linked from UserLogos, because of high traffic.
Solution: Save your logos to your PC!FD v2.16 has been released to fix some issues that many were experiencing.
An update(2.17) is already in the works..
Appearance settings are gone: This is a result of v2.15 getting a new themes system.
You must choose a theme, and customize to your liking from there.
UserLogos / iFastNet
With the recent release of FD 2.15 there has been a huge traffic spike for UserLogos.
This caused thousands of users to be redirected to the iFastNet website, which was full of ad-ware and pop-ups.
Many believed this to be caused by Fast Dial, while it is Not.
UserLogos redirects users to iFastNet during high traffic to protect the servers from crashing.
Too late, there's already like 300+ 1-star reviews. Redirects to ifastnet were *indirectly* caused by FD and users don't really care that what exactly caused it, FD or UL because they linked and therefore users see it as one thing (kinda).
"Solution: Save your logos to your PC!" - FD wiped them out, thank you.

*Ahem* I have all my logos saved in a folder in My Documents. Nothing was cleared by FD.
If you used links from UL logos directly in FD, then theres a problem when UL is down.
Also, if one is dumb enough to store logos inside the fastdial@php.net.us folder inside the profile, then they deserve their logos erased. Folders inside the extensions folder are always cleared upon upgrade.

Yes i know it is too late. Hopefully a new version will get ratings back up.
Yes i guess redirects to iFastNet were indirectly caused by FD.
But the way i see it is, if users werent linking their logos from UL, there would be no traffic spikes, thus no ifastnet redirects.
Someone on the forum proposed an apology be issued - that's what he should do @ mozilla page.
I use FF Portable so I try to keep things in it's folder. My logos were in profile/fastdial, not in extensions/fastdial@php.net.us (that would be really stupid, agree). But you make a valid point and I might just move them somewhere else.
But the way i see it is, if users werent linking their logos from UL, there would be no traffic spikes, thus no ifastnet redirects. Heh. The way *I* see it is many users don't like to spend time tweaking their browsers. They just want it to work, that's all. Of course, you right, local logos would've saved UL and maybe helped avoid this whole mess. But, as I said - users are mostly don't care/lazy/don't know how to.

That might be a good idea..
IMHO, not might.
Srsly, I like this addon, and it is still great for users that are new, the existing users are not exactly the most content users...
I didn't like FD 2.15b1...
In fact, when I went from 2.11 to 2.15, I used a FEBE full backup.
That is how much I trust FD updates, sorry.
I still update, I just test on another profile 1st.

OK I want to say that I LOVE Fast Dial! It has made life sooooooooooooooooo much easier!!! But, when I installed the upgrade to 2.16 I noticed that my backgrounds no longer change when I change Fast Dial folders... What's up with that? I'm guessing it has something to do with the whole new themes thingy but I can't figure out how to have a different background for different folders... Is this no longer possible? And how do I downgrade back to the last version where this is possible? Keep up the good work!

OLD:
Please take my apoligies for all the damage 2.15 and 2.16 updates have done to your systems. I had no intention to do this.
Why did I insert spam links into your bookmarks? This seemed a good idea to me. I spent a year polishing Fast Dial and decided that I should have something in return. Gmail and UserLogos logos were added by me just because these are the sites I use most. I thought that many people don't even know about UserLogos site and about nice logos they could get there.
Why did users visiting UserLogos saw ad pages? When many people started upgrading, UserLogos site experienced very high load. This triggered hosting provider's anti-DDOS protection system, which redirects users to ad pages.
I decided to rewrite it in my spare time.
This is what I came up with:

"Which one is better?"
The second one is written more correctly as far as English is concerned, which I am assuming is what you are asking about here.(?) There are only a couple of other corrections you could make to get it completely correct as follows:
"Please accept my apologies", rather than 'take" them
"I did not intend to do this" rather than, "I had no intention to do this"
Finally, change "This, unfortunately, triggered ifastnet's, my provider's, anti-Denial-of-service attack protection system, which redirects to their advertisement page." to "My provider is iFastnet and when this spike in activity occurred, it triggered their Anti-Denial-of-Service Attack Protection System, which redirects users to iFastnet's advertisement pages"
I'm not sure of the content as I have not had any of these problems. However, I am not clear on what you mean by:
"Why did I insert spam links into your bookmarks? This seemed like a good idea to me. I spent a year polishing Fast Dial, and I decided that I should have something in return. I realize now [blah blah blah]."
Are you saying that you inserted your own spam links into our bookmarks and, based on what you are saying about 'having something in return", does this mean you can receive payment from advertisers by doing this? If so, this is a separate issue from the redirect to iFastnet's ad pages when the activity here reached a limit set by iFastnet.
As far as the issue of being paid by advertisers for the time you have spent developing this add-on, I can understand it, especially when it takes a lot of your own free time to develop it, and will continue to do so, like with something like Fast Dial. I believe, however, that you will run into problems with some of the open source companies rules, but I am not sure about that.
Fast Dial is more like a product which creates a service. This is something that does not HAVE to be provided in order for someone to use the Internet and, therefore, falls into the category of a 'luxury' product (for lack of a better term) that even the most hard core open source believer would have to admit should qualify the author for some compensation for their time and talent. That is what advertisement is for. There are other ways to receive compensation such as requiring each user to become an official "Member" who has to pay dues before you can download from the site, or ask for donations. Both of those options often barely cover enough to pay for band width to avoid having to be subjected to the activation of an Anti-DDOS Protection.
You really just need to decide what you feel is fair to you. Only you knows how much time has to be spent operating this site and upgrading this add-on and I think everyone would agree you deserve something for it. I certainly do not think you should have to pay anything out of your own pocket to provide this to us. Even if you decide you don't want to be paid, requesting donations is always in order. Perhaps a vote of the membership as to what to do would be of value? Like if we are willing to see ads so you can be paid by advertisers, or if we believe buying a membership would be better. You also have to decide if you really want compensation for your time and talent, or just enough to pay your provider. Whatever you decide, I'm sure I, as well as the other members here, feel this is a great, even essential, tool now and thank you for giving this to us! You DO deserve a lot for this, in my opinion, so just tell us what is what. You may be surprised how many of us will support you, no matter what you decide.
