Help! No Icons or Previews!
snefsky —Fri, 11/07/2008 - 15:44
I went from FD v2.11 to 2.14 recently and lost the ability to get previews and icons. I downgraded, wiped the install and reinstalled. I disabled all the other extensions I have. I reinstalled firefox, java, restarted my computer.
This is what it gives me now:

or

I don't know if this helps or not, but the option to "use java for image scaling" or whatever is greyed out.
I really like this extension, it lets me clear up bookmark bar space. i don't want to go back to using the bookmark bar :(

Re: Help! No Icons or Previews!
Submitted by snefsky on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 17:33dear god i finally got it working. I realized i had been deleting the wrong folders and whatever i f***ed up in the previous version must've been still there. I ended up uninstalling firefox, deleting the folder Mozilla Firefox in Program Files and then reinstalling it and it works.
your "New profile loading 2.14 into 3.0.3" somehow sparked the realization i might not be deleting the right thing
thanks
i can finally have a sexy start screen

but it sounds like you've cracked it.)

HELP I have same problem..
Thanks for the video.
Very helpful
Any chance of a little history.

Which FD Version
What was happening before you got all this refresh activity
What scaling mode do you have in Preferences.
If you have Java selected, what happens if you de-select
Please try
Maybe your Java is not working correctly
Thanks

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 11/14/2008 - 09:48For what it's worth, I had this same issue. My icons were not refreshing correctly - they just had the spinning dots and the icon for the page would never load.
I tried what chiaroscuro suggested and disabled "java for image scaling" and everything loaded perfectly.
if you are stuck, give it a shot.

Java scaling problems
I can confirm now Java scaling does not work with Java JRE 6u10,
but works with previous version 6u7
