2.14 bugs
JosefTor —Thu, 10/23/2008 - 14:47
I tried out 2.14 and I had numerous bugs. One is that the navigation mode goes into autohide when your mouse isn't over it and I cant seem to make it stop doing that.
Second, the properties and preferences is back on the same drop down menu which is just confusing.
Third, when I right click a tab to try and get it to open in a new window it just brings up the drop down menu with preferences and stuff like that so I can't open a tab in a new window.
Third thing is not a bug but an annoyance. Why is there a google search bar on my screen when firefox includes one in the upper right hand of my browser? I already have a small screen (13 inches) so my icons are super small... I don't want wasted space for a feature I can't disable.
I'm back on 2.11 and all problems are solved. I love the program but I hope they go back to 2.11 and make modifications on that because 2.14 is the wrong direction.

Re: 2.14 bugs
Submitted by Kaelri on Sun, 11/09/2008 - 13:03My problem with the Autohide feature is that it's impossible to disable the navigation bar completely. I actually don't use that bar - I've moved my address bar, etc. into the "bookmarks" toolbar, so all this does for me is show an empty bar every time I mouseover it, regardless of my preferences - the action literally enables/disables the bar in Firefox's options.
What's more, even when the nav bar is "hidden," there's another blank bar, shown above the menu bar, which disappears when the nav bar reappears, and vice versa. I assume this is a glitch.
I urge you to make Autohide an optional feature, disabled by default. This is not in Fast Dial's product description, and it's going to confuse and annoy people who weren't expecting it. I will be downgrading to 2.11 for now.
I also recommend making the search bar optional, at the very least because, as JosefTor mentioned, it's redundant for anyone who's already using Firefox's search bar.

In a way this is a beta Version of 2.14
Many have shown a wish to have Autohide as an option
A number too have wished to have the Search bar as an option
It is expected that in the next Version these options will be in place.

Sure
OK
Thanks

Did happen to find though that Mafi0z search box redesign bears a striking resemblence to a mystery horizontal bar visible in LS:Enigma in Rainmeter and Reverie
Was that I wonder a search bar ?

Ah.. that's where the Info was.
Had not thought of looking there.
Found the link to Launchy as well.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

That would be really great, thanks!

Submitted by SD (not verified) on Tue, 11/11/2008 - 18:04The Google Search is a big turn off for me. I'm a new user who upgraded from 2.11 because my previews were jumping around. That problem was fixed, but the Autohide "feature" was installed along with a more than useless Google Search Bar. There should be some option to disable it.
Neither the Autohide nor the Google Search are features that are central to Fast Dial. Please make them options.
Re: 2.14 bugs
Submitted by gumanov on Tue, 11/11/2008 - 18:10they will mostly likely be optional in the next release. also, the search bar does not have to be google. you can change it to an other engine you have installed with firefox by clicking on the google icon near the fd search bar
