Fast Dial 4.2.1 on Firefox 12

Yesterday I've updated Firefox up to version 12 and now I've a blank page with title "History" instead of usual Fasi Dial page.

I've tried to remove and reinstall FastDial, set my FasDial folder as FastDial home, but without any effect.

Am I alone having the issue ? Is a new release planned for it ?

thank you for the picture

I can recreate the same screen as you by going to history in Bookmarks and then right clicking "fast dial make home" on history

the fact there is the fast dial favicon confirms this.

I would therefore have expected that if you go to bookmarks/organise bookmarks and right clcik on the fast dial folder and fast dial make home should have returned you to the fast dial folder

This is most strange

If you go to the fast dial folder in bookmarks you should be able to see listed all the urls/bookmarks that make up your fast dial.
Can you see them listed in the bookmarks folder ?

Have you tried with only fast dial enabled in your firefox ?

Of course, I've already make my fast dial folder as home and the folder is not empty:

And I've also tried to deactivate alll plugins except fast dial but unfortunately with the same result

Damn chiaroscuro, you got it !

Using fast dial "make home" in the bookmarks -> organize bookmarks "full" window works perfectly and do the job as expected but using the same feature in the bookmarks "light" context menu does not work !

Yes Firefox/Bookmarks/Organise Bookmarks/Bookmarks Menu is the place to access the Fast Dial Folder.

Glad to know that Fast Dial Make Home now works correctly

Do you happen to remember if you had yourself tried to make History as Fast Dial Home, or did this happen or its own accord

I never put myself "history" as fast dial home, it occurred in from of me, just after a Firefox update (portable) or maybe after a transparent Firefox bookmark sync between 2 computers, but I already did it several times for months without any issue.

I find in my version of Fast Dial with my version of Firefox, that if I go simply Bookmarks and then click on the fast dial folder that the fast dial make home command works just fine as well

I am not clear why this does not work for you.
This will need to be documented and researched as to why this failure occurs in 4.2.1 in ff12

Do you think this might be related to your synching set up ?
Did you try disabling

Was the other computer you were syncing too experiencing the same anomaly in bookmarks ?

I tried to change fast dial home on the other computer with Firefox 11 (sync enabled) and if it works as expected in bookmarks -> organize bookmarks "full" window, I can't change it in bookmarks "light" context menu (no effects).
So the "make home" is also bugged for me under Firefox 11.

I don't think this is due to Firefox bookmarks sync because the fast dial home changed only on the computer after FF update to release 12 and not for the one with FF 11 but I will make a test and update it and let you know.

I think it is best to make tests with the least number of variables possible.

Would you be so kind as to describe the exact process you go through for your "light" fdmh procedure so that this at least is clear.

tests can then be made to see if your problem can be reproduced
