HELP! How do I completely REMOVE Fast Dial so I can reinstall from scratch?!?!?
That's it, all I want to know, suddenly my Vista 64 bit machine is showing random bookmarks in FastDial.
I just want to start over, but each reinstall has the exact same thing, I need to remove all settings as well.
Please help!
Thanks!
Eric
EDIT: Well, I just stumbled upon something that did it, so here it is if anyone else has this problem.
First, I went here: http://userlogos.org/node/5803
That didn't help.
But!... it gave me the idea for Resetting a few other items.
Do the about:config thing, type fastdial in for the search.
I reset Options, Root, and Sort.
Sort had a ton of weird email and URL addresses.
This fixed my problem, hopefully it'll help someone else.

I know Chiaroscuro will be right around to post links and point you in the right direction.
But for now, could you please try backing up all your bookmarks (http://www.nirmaltv.com/2007/07/25/how-to-back-up-bookmarks-in-firefox/)
and then delete the "Fast Dial" folder?
Then you can try a reinstall.
Thanks.

You seem to be having a number of problems.
And it sounds like you may have sorted them.
---
Some users have found that their Root folder is not the correct one in Bookmarks and setting the Fast Dial Folder as Hone in Bookmarks Menu is enough to resolve the problem.
Especially if the root has become History or Most Visited.
I had not realised you could reset this in about:config.
However if your Fast Dial Folder in Bookmarks has another name than Fast Dial the about:confi reset Root will not work.
The about:config will set as default Home folder as Fast Dial

Some other users have encountered difficulty when using Foxmarks. But maybe you do not use Foxmarks.

Any further problems please let us know
---
I am unclear if you were able to discover which of your actions resolved the problem, and what your exact problem was being caused by.
Let us hope it is now fully resolved

Thank you
