How to use custom cell sizes?
Marluxia.Kyoshu Sat, 10/18/2008 - 07:29
Every time I try to change the cell sizes through the preferences, it changes it to something else, and the [Fixed] check-box seems to do nothing. I am trying to change the cell size to 360×225, but when I enter 360 it changes the second number to 270 of it's own accord, and when I click the second box and attempt to modify it, it refuses to respond... Is this a bug, or is it supposed to do this? If it is supposed to be this way, could you guys please change it in the next update so we can use custom cell sizes?
I'd appreciate it.
Also, an option to disable the [Add to FastDial] context menu option off would be wonderful.

Anyways, I hope someone answers your question!
all the best

The second number changes for a reason.
Fast Dial uses a 4:3 ratio for the images, so if you used a custom size, your image would otherwise become distorted.
all the logos on this website are either 300 by 225 or 400 by 300. both of which have a ratio of 4 to 3.
so, my point is, you can have your own set size, but it must be 4 to 3
@MB,
you can easily have more cells..
right click in a blank area in Fast Dial (where there are no cells), and click Preferences.
on the first tab, general, you will see the quantity setting =]

Submitted by Marluxia.Kyoshu on Wed, 11/26/2008 - 10:31sorry I forgot I asked this question here (cast thread ressurection)
I have a wide screen computer which displays wide pages perfectly fine, I don't want to use any of the logos here, I want Fast Dial to render wide caps of the pages I bookmark, is that so hard?
It would be really nice if you guys could work this into the next release.
And again, an option to disable the [Add to FastDial] context menu option off would be wonderful. It is really cumbersome in my context menu and I have never hit that button on purpose, only by accident.

In future correspondence it would be most useful if you would have the courtesy to mention your Fast Dial Version number as you have chosen not to list this information in your profile.

The add to Fast Dial option in the Main Context Menu, is by far the most convenient way to add a web pages to Fast Dial, especially in Fast Dial 2.14 where the folder to save to is also shown.
---
However if you still wish to remove this option, it is a fairly simple matter.
Please have a look at the following post
Extension Conflict Fast Dial 2.14 and Menu Editor
There is a small bug reported in Menu Editor that it does not show the Add to Fast Dial option in the Tab Menu.
Menu Editor however does offer the option, should one so wish to use it, to remove Add to Fast Dial from the Firefox context menu.
This will allow you to remove the Add to Fast Dial option immediately, and so relieve you of it's (in your words) "cumbersome" presence.
Please let us know how you get on.
