FastDial background

I tried to change my background today but every time i use one of my pictures the background turns white
but when i save a background from userlogos.org it works.
when i alter the saved image i downloaded from userlogos.org, it turns white again.
i tried it in both jpeg and png
help =(

If the background image you choose to use in Fast Dial is very small, and if in your settings you have background set to centre, you will not see the background image easily as it will be further down the page, so you will only see your background colour which may be set to white
If you set the background setting to tiled, then you will see multiple images of the smaller background
So please first check your image sizes
If we cannot resolve this easily then please upload one of your non working backgrounds to Userlogos.

i had a little clip art that is 200*200 and it worked both on its own and tiled

Interesting....
There are a number of little foibles.
Are you renaming your background files when you alter them?
If so are you including a space in the name or a hash sign.(not good)
Try renaming your files with a file name that you know works
If this does not solve things, please upload one of your altered backgrounds and so we can have a look at it.
What program are you using to alter the images ?

how do i rescale a jpeg image that is about 900 kb to 300 kb?

I can only presume for the moment that the finsished file that you are generating from Paint is not compatible with FD.
are you absolutely sure that in FD you are browsing to the correct folder to load the background image ?
Please consider using a free windows program called IrfanView
It seems to work just fine for resizing images

In most formats images are compressed, unfortunatley I don't believe that paint has this functionality. I did find a online program that would do it for you http://www.imageoptimizer.net/Pages/Home.aspx. OR if you want me to resize the image to a certain file size or resolution I will give it my best shot.

I am glad you have found a solution to your problem.
It may interest you to know that I have a 6.9 MB BMP file running fine as background in FD, suggesting that size is maybe not the only question.

i also have a problem with the backgrounds at fast dial. i can't insert a background. i really don't know how to insert it. is it necessary to download the background i want from your page or must i save it and add it at fast dial at preferences? it's always the same problem - the background is white. sorry for my english, i'm german...
