Open Profile Folder

It would seem on computer reboot that Norton deletes the extensions.rdf file in Firefox !!
This is interesting, because on firefox startup, Firefox recreates the rdf file from what is installed in Firefox, (if the extensions.rdf has been deleted)
So Norton is installing norton files and then deleting old rdf (or is the other way round), so that firefox, when it opens, makes a new rdf which includes the norton extensions..
I have been looking at the rdf file
not so easy to edit as I thought.
So maybe knowing the above, load (and maybe remove) the extensions you want (don't want) in firefox.
close firefox
delete extensions.rdf file
restart firefox
make extensios.rdf read only.
(do NOT restart the computer when doing these things)
(doing this saves editing the rdf)
(If Norton can do it, so can you !)
This should keep Norton's from deleting the rdf file again.
However I would not do all these things this without a Full Proflle backup in FEBE for safety.....

I changed the rdf file to read only but on re-boot fast dial was incompatable, so changed it back again and, you guessed it, reinstaled fast dial!!
.....ooh my brain hurts!
but it would seem I am not alone.

yes there seem to be a lot of unhappy norton customers out there.
This is the best (3 page) thread on the subject that I could find (at Norton)
Please read it - there is a lot in there

the jebear fix on page 2 looks interesting...
see if it works for you...
If not there is the crisoco8722 fix with a helpful link on page 2 as well....
Norton also talking of a fix in April....
Good luck !
Please let us know how you get on...

Saw this in relation to another question
But maybe give it a try
Install Fast Dial
But do not restart firefox to complete the install.
Close computer
reboot...
Is fast dial there ??
