TIP: Search YouTube.com for 'create logo gimp' or 'gimp' - you will find some excellent GIMP tutorial's.

I have noticed that many of the logos get alot of views, but not many users use the vote feature on the site.. For example, the top rated logos have a max of around 8 votes..but have thousands of views.. If you're not going to leave a comment, atleast click one of the voting links! Comments and ratings help the author of the content decide what looks best - this will result in higher quality logos! Note: Also - we have now given write access, to contributors, to the Tutorials section within the Help page.

For those that are making logos for all of the apps I decided to provide a high resolution logo for Google, available right here (link removed).

I've found that the closest font match for the name of the app is "Tahoma" (such as for the "Calendar" in Google Calendar).
