Feature Request: Folders for Mails with Variable Loading Policies
AyeJay Wed, 04/20/2016 - 10:32
Hi,
as I have lots of mails in SimpleMail collected in the many years I am using this proggy, which I don't want to loose I have a wish to ameliorate the performance of SimpleMail.
Therefore I would like to have some folders with an archive feature, which means that their contents are NOT INCLUDED or OPENED immediately at start-up of SimpleMail. Only upon separate and distinct manual request, those folders will be opened and their mails are included to the already accessible mails of the other non-archive folders.
I think, this would be advantageous for a faster start-up of the program.
When you have thousands of mails, it may take a long time, to open SimpleMail, this is at least my experience, my notebook is somewhat lazy, may be... :-(
I could also think of a hierarchy of folders, concerning this opening procedure, ideas and propositions are always welcome!
Also not only concerning this initialization procedure, other relations and functions may be of interest also, e.g. connected to their accounts and its operations.
Please let me know, what you think about that.
Thanks!

Submitted by AyeJay on Thu, 04/21/2016 - 17:06and also arranged in many folders (more than 30) and subfolders (3 levels, about 20 subfolders altogether)...
Wherefrom can I get/find/count the number of all my emails, is there a hidden feature?
I am estimating: it will be more than 2-3 THOUSEND emails...
The startup time varies, depending on various circumstances: browser opened since a longer time, free memory i.e. many other programs running, besides FF.
From 2-3 minutes up to (sometimes) even 10-15 minutes, with 100% CPU-load.
Kind regards
AJ

Submitted by AyeJay on Fri, 04/22/2016 - 13:29Grrr... well the total number in Inbox is 5182,
which means all the received mails ever, I suppose.
In Sent there are 836 mails, which means all the ever sent mails.
There is no OUTBOX, and there is no RECEIVED - which terms would be the respectively synonyms for the always correct opposite, thinking more systematically - purely academic, I know.
Which means summa summarum there are 6018 emails which are handled in the folders at startup time of my SimpleMail.
Am I right?

But to compare in a meaningful manner we should also know what our hardware features are!
I have an old notebook (an IBM Thinkpad T 34) with an INTEL mobile Pentium M processor (1,73 GHz), clocked with about 795 MHz, the main memory has 1,5 GB RAM.
My Disk is of the IDE-Type with 6 GBytes.
Operating System is MS Windows XP (industrial license, i.e. still receiving updates and malware protection!
Altogether sufficient for what I do, writing, mailing, browsing with FF V42.02.
But not sufficient for a JS program such as SimpleMail, I fear.
