False SSL Error: Untrusted Certificate while using POP3
AmaruKaze Fri, 09/19/2014 - 14:24
I just downloaded Simple Mail and entered my mail addresses to the accounts.
Once I clicked "fetch" it went haywire.
The mail server is:
pop.gmx.net
Port 995
and uses SSL
The result is:
Timestamp: 19.09.2014 20:21:19
Error: pop.gmx.net:995 is using an invalid Security Certificate.
The certificate is not trusted as the certificate issuer is not known.
(Errorcode: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
Now comes the catch: I did use Opera just today and it went fine and accepted the certificate, so does Thunderbird as well.
Is it a bug? Or can I simply tell Simple Mail to ignore such Errors?

Certificates are not handled by SimpleMail but by Firefox. You have to add your own certificates in Firefox :
Tools - Options - Advanced - Certificates tab - View Certificates - Authorities tab - Import button

All the Mail Provider gives me is the port, the encryption (SSL), and the protocol plus server.
I have no access to the certificate. It simply says it is not valid.
I have no clue how simple mail / firefox comes to the conclusions it is not valid.

I use GMX mail as well and I believe it's .com, not .net
